Is my pet having an emergency?

Only so much can be told without a veterinarian’s examination, but general signs of a medical emergency are:

    • Weakness
    • Difficulty breathing
    • Vomiting/retching
    • Pain
    • Difficulty walking
    • Paralysis
    • Bleeding or bloody discharge
    • Hives
    • Swelling
    • Seizures
    • Pale gums
    • Large volume diarrhea
    • Prolonged anorexia
    • Jaundice
    • Difficult urination
    • Any type of wound.

What do I do in an emergency?

    • Remain calm and do not panic.
    • Protect yourself from injury.
    • Apply pressure to any bleeding wounds.

During normal business hours call your family veterinarian.

After hours call (949) 833-9020 or bring your pet to Irvine Regional Animal Emergency Hospital.

If you cannot transport your pet, ambulance services are available to assist you. Please note that we cannot provide treatment unless you come with your pet to register and provide authorization.
